sweetness.

-elder ballard was anxious to pursue his education upon his return from his mission. he enrolled at the university of utah and during 'hello days' at the u, just four days after his return from his mission, he met a pretty little blonde student named barbara bowen. he said, "i had danced with her only two seconds at the hello day dance, and i knew she was for me"

-it was during the depression that dallin h. oaks and his father were walking down the city street. "we stopped to look in the window of a sporting goods store. there were some pocket knives on display in the window, and we happened to notice a little fellow- who was longingly studying the knives. my father watched him for a few minutes, then walked over to him and asked, "which one do you like best?" the little boy pointed to one. father walked into the shop. moments later, he emerged from the store with a knife just like the one the little boy liked so much. "here" my father said as he handed the knife to the boy, "this is for you". after the boy left, father began to sense that i was a little upset that he hadn't bought a knife for me. he put his arm around me and said, "i dont think that little boy has a father to buy him a knife. you have your father."

dc fool.

finals are over. i can't even believe it.

but more importantly, i discovered the byu library this week!
i call it the libre. even though technically that doesnt mean library- but seriously?? looks way cool, and makes me feel cultured, so whatev.

i have discovered that the libre is the perfect place for...
side hugs, awkward encounters, ipod playlists, jolly ranchers, impromptu facebook videos, footsie dates, pranks, and of course, procrastination.

i think im in love?

ps- i haven't gone grocery shopping since November 4th. that is a fact. i just checked my bill.
do you know what this means? a lot of dry cereal and several midnight wendy's runs.

pps- for my history of creativity final they had us draw buildings of romanesque and gothic styled architecture. i laughed out loud when i looked at my gothic one and staring back at me was the freaking salt lake temple. good heavens, i deserved that C in 7th grade art.

nature relationship

i'm in history of creativity. last night i read the text book and actually loved it. it was so fascinating. i got to read about egypt, india and china. taoism, buddha, and confucius. it made me so grateful to my parents for all the traveling they have let me do and how it has had such an impact on who i am today.

skyrise

once upon a time i thought i might like to be a lawyer.
i'm logical, i'm persuasive, i love pencil skirts and arguing...

then i took business law.

and my dreams changed into a tearful prayer to pass the class...
corporate life-here i come.

physical education

im comfortable here..
yesterday i was in the tanner building for a meeting with my market research team and it felt good.
it felt like home.
second block i started a class... a class NOT in the tanner... for the first time since my freshman year... and yesterday i realized it does not feel like home.

i'm comfortable studying balance sheets, and being the only girl in some of my classes.
i'm comfortable listening to lectures about market trends and economics.
i like going to class at 8 in the morning.. never having to worry about a parking spot [and frequently sneaking by in faculty parking]

i think this is something college does to you.. you forget what it's like to be forced into 12 years of PE.
instead, you get to choose your classes, and eventually they all seem to "go" together...
part of me loves this. and another part of me hates that i feel out of place studying british history. i used to love history- i used to be good at it...

but now i sit through class wishing for a GM or EBAY case study.

since when am i so stuck in my routine that i resist change??...
since when am i an adult?
