gus.gus.

this morning we all went to our assigned wards. i am with aubrie, jared, jessica, shaina, and kristen! we are in the crystal palace ward that meets in the malcom primary school building. it was quite interesting to have sacrament in a gym and relief society in a cafeteria! we left this morning at 8:15, had to take a bus and a train and walk quite a bit... we got back to the center at 2:30...all in all sunday's are going to be busy days with the commute! our ward is filled with africans. it did not feel at all like we were in london, thats for sure- during sacrament there were two baby blessings and then it was fast and testimony meeting. the first counselor stood up and said that they were first going to hear from the byu students [news to us] so we all got to stand up and share our testimonies. it was a great experience. during gospel doctrine we met with the first counselor and filled out forms so that next week we can receive callings. the building was absolutely freezing, so during relief society aubrie (or mom, as i like to call her) and i sat on top of each other to try and stay warm.
after church we all bundled up at the center to stay warm and do homework till dinner.
after dinner we had an amazing fireside by the stake president. he talked all about growing up in ghana and joining the church in london when he was about 30. he was such a humble and amazing man. he talked about how doing the basic things are what will keep us on track. i really loved his message.
this evening a bunch of us went over to mcdonalds to use their internet and video skype with family and friends back home! it was great to talk to so many people! i was sad i couldn't talk to my parents [they are currently in istanbul and greece] to wish my mom a happy mothers day, but i know they're having an amazing time and i will hear from them soon!

ps- we may or may not have a mouse in the center.. luckily it's not in my dorm room. we also may or may not have named him gus gus and given him a facebook profile? we rule.

I don't know if I should be flattered or offended that you named your little mouse friend Gus, considering that is the name of my future adopted African American gold medal winning Olympic Athlete son.
