what in the world. today was another crazy-busy day here in london. you'd think we'd be slowing down at some point, but it seems as though we're only getting more crazy, and i'm so happy about that! today we went as an entire center to westminster abbey and toured around. Westminster abbey is the nations coronation church and is the burial and memorial place for tons of famous historical figures from british history. my favorite part was the 'poets corner' where charles dickens and handel are buried. they also have a memorial for Shakespeare.
after this a group of us stopped and had a sandwich on the steps at trafalgar square before meeting back with the group at the Churchill War Rooms. [i may have also had a smarties mcflurry]
we spent quite a while at this next museum, and i found it fascinating. The cabinet war rooms is located beneath the treasury building in Whitehall. it was used as a bunker during world war II by Winston Churchill and his cabinet. Now it has an entire section of the museum dedicated to Churchill and its absolutely amazing. My favorite thing was a quote by Churchill that says “it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues are created, strengthened, and maintained.” shat a great man.
after such a crazy day mark and katelin-jane and I decided to top it off with Les Mis in Piccadilly Square. I AM IN LOVE. It was the most amazing play I have ever been to. Absolutely phenomenal acting, singing, costumes, and company. Mark is from utah and so much fun to be around and katelin-jane and I have become great friends. i couldn't get enough of this performance and i am still in shock over the entire thing. Jean Valjean is my hero.
