little venice

today i visited little venice. Despite ridiculous wind and our freezing toes, Katelin-Jane and I had so much fun!Little Venice was coined by Robert Browning and Lord Bryson. It is a community that is secluded beside a tranquil waterway with tree-lined streets, shops and restaurants. it's an absolutely breathtaking community.
We visited St. Mary's Church, which is where William Hogarth (the painter) was secretly married to the daughter of one of London's most prestigious painters- James Thornhill.

St. Mary's is also where Sarah Siddons was buried. She was a very famous actress in london at the turn of the 19th century and was tagged the "tragic muse". All the famous painters of the time did her portrait and this statue was based on the painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds.

This is a view of the canal where you can take boat rids to the London Zoo or to Camden Town Market. They even have a floating cafe. The canals were the way Great Britain was linked together during the industrial revolution before the advent of motorways and the railroads.
This is the Bridge House Pub- the oldest building constructed after Regent's Canal was completed.

Your blog will not let me click on your pictures to make them bigger! It looks like you are still having fun. I'm glad you have the orange scarf and flower headband to constantly remind you of me. Love you!
